「慎重な子だから」「人懐っこい子だから」そんな言葉を聞くことがあります。
もちろん生まれ持った気質はあります。
慎重な子。活発な子。好奇心旺盛な子。マイペースな子。
でも、それだけでその子の未来が決まるわけではありません。
安心できる経験を積み重ねれば、自信につながることもあります。
逆に人が大好きな子でも、怖い経験が続けば人との距離を取るようになることもあります。
気質は、その子らしさの土台。
性格は、その後の経験や環境、人との関わりの中で少しずつ形作られていくもの。
だから私は今見えている姿だけで、その子の未来を決めつけたくないと思っています。
犬たちは、それぞれのペースで成長していくから。
