【オッドアイ＝悪い遺伝？】

オッドアイは左右の目の色が違う、とても珍しい特徴です。
ですが“オッドアイ＝悪い遺伝”というわけではありません。
大切なのは「なぜオッドアイになったのか」その背景を知ることだと思っています。
犬種によってはマール遺伝子が関係するケースもあり組み合わせ次第では健康リスクに繋がることがあります。
一方でイタグレやウィペット、キャバリアなどではマールが関係しないケースのオッドアイも存在します。

だからこそ見た目だけで判断するのではなく犬種ごとの特徴や遺伝の背景を知ることが大切。
綺麗、珍しい、それだけで終わらせずに、その子たちの健康や未来まで考えられる人が増えたら嬉しいです。
これは「こうあるべき」という話ではなく、あくまでニベアなりに感じていることです。

Odd eyes are a very rare and beautiful trait where each eye has a different color.
However, odd eyes do not automatically mean “bad genetics.”
What matters most is understanding why the dog developed odd eyes in the first place.
In some breeds, the merle gene may be involved, and certain pairings can increase health risks.
On the other hand, breeds such as Italian Greyhounds, Whippets, and Cavaliers can sometimes have odd eyes without merle being involved.
That’s why I believe it’s important not to judge only by appearance, but to understand the breed, genetics, and background behind it.
I hope more people can appreciate not only the beauty and rarity, but also the health and future of these dogs.
This is not about saying what is “right” or “wrong.”
It’s simply how I personally see and think about these things.
