ウォルターには、たまに発動する変態的こだわりグルーミングがあります。
対象は、なぜか人のかかとです。
まず匂いを嗅いで、舐めて、奥歯でガジガジ。
最後は前歯でカチカチカチ…と、かなり丁寧な工程を踏んでくるのですが問題はそこではありません。
ここまで真剣にやるので、「そんなに頑張るなら、少しくらいかかとが綺麗になるのでは？」と思うじゃないですか。
でも現実は何も変わりません。
つるつるにもならない。
角質が取れた感じもしない。
ただ湿るだけ。
そして最後に、ウォルターの口臭だけがしっかり乗ります。
犬同士に前歯でカチカチしながらグルーミングしていることはあるので本人の中ではお手入れのつもりなのかもしれません。
でも人間側からすると毎回ただただ「何してるの、ウォルター？」で終わります。
本人はたぶん大真面目なのに、こちらに残るのが“湿ったかかとと口臭”だけなの、あまりにも理不尽です。笑

Walter has a very specific and slightly questionable grooming habit.
For some reason, his chosen target is… human heels.
He sniffs, licks, gnaws with his back teeth, and then chatters away with his front teeth like he’s doing some incredibly important work.
You’d think all that dedication would leave a smoother heel behind.
But no. Nothing changes.
It doesn’t get softer, cleaner, or better in any way.
It just gets wet… and somehow ends up smelling like Walter’s breath.
He sometimes makes the same front-teeth chattering motion when grooming other dogs, so maybe this is his version of “care.”
From the human side, though, it mostly feels like being selected for a very weird spa treatment no one asked for.
